W EEKLY EDITION JUNE 6, 2018 2018 Industry Survey Reveals Progress, Prosperity, and Growing Concerns …continued By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director Direction and Momentum. We also asked respondents to give us feedback on the direction and momentum of the PSAI as a whole and some specific initiatives the PSAI has undertaken in the past few years. While some of the items m ay also be included in the list above, the purpose of this specific question was to find out if we are moving the organization in the right direction for the future – not just meeting needs (or not) today. The two sets of questions were intended to help us see whether there is a contrast between how well we are doing now and what we need to be doing to be relevant for companies in the years to come. As you can see on the following chart, Members generally rank our progress somewhere between 7 and 8 on a 1 - 10 scale where 1 represents the "wrong direction" and 10 represents the "right direction." Weekly newsletters again rank at the top of the list of things headed in the right direction in the opinion of Members, followed by our work to raise standards and address negative perceptions. The average of all scores for Members in 2018 is 7.63, down slightly from last year's average of 8.04. An important question to answer is whether we have really lost momentum in the past year to a degree that would explain the drop in the average Direction and Momentum score – or whether last year's numbers were inflated due to comparatively low response rates (about half as many Members responded last year – presumably the most dedicated ones were more likely to take the time) . Again, not surprisingly, nonmembers rated everything the PSAI is doing considerably lower than Members rated them. While even nonmembers provided an average rating above the middle (on this scale, 5 equals that the direction/momentum is neither positive nor negative), it is clear they don't see as much good in the Association as their Member company counterparts.
