Solar Eclipse Surges Sales
Oregon PROs continue to prepare for the
upcoming solar eclipse
As we near closer to the August total solar eclipse,
businesses in the state of Oregon continue to prepare
– especially portable restroom operators. More than
one million people are expected to watch the eclipse
statewide, with numerous outdoor viewing are as
planning for the event. Most PROs have already sold
out for the eclipse , which comes as an unexpected, yet pleasant surprise for local company Buck's Sanitary Service.
Buck's 2,000 units "usually only sell out twice a year during big events," making "th e volume of toilet sales…
astronomical," according to Scott Weld, a spokesperson for the company.
The potential shortage has many state emergency managers encouraging that incoming visitors pack their own
"personal toilet." There is a requirement of 7 po rtable restrooms per 800 guests for the larger gatherings set by
state regulations, but there is concern "about being able to service the toilets with the extreme traffic expected."
While there is no surefire way to prepare for the unique event, PROs in Or egon certainly have their work cut out
for them. However, it's hard to be upset about the boom in toilet rentals – as Weld assures that "business is
definitely not eclipsing (pun intended)." READ THE STORY
