Common Mistakes Business Owners Make …continued
Based on an article by Patricia Lotich for Aabaco Small Business and adapted for the PSAI by Karleen Kos
9. Lack of Communication
Poor communication is a problem in many companies.
Successful organizations create structured processes
to manage how information is shared with both
employees and customers. Organizational transparency
creates a business environment that employees enjoy
and customers are drawn to.
10. Not Alwa ys Looking for Ways to Improve
Continuous improvement is how companies develop
and enhance products and services as well as find new
customers. Cultivate in your employees the value of
constantly looking for ways to improve how and what
they do. An owner s hould always review the internal
processes of developing and delivering products and
services in an effort to identify improvement
opportunities. These ideas can save time and money, or
they may help you win customers. You have nothing to
lose.
11. Not Ce lebrating Successes
The burden of the daily grind can keep companies from
taking the time to stop and acknowledge how far
they've come. Celebrating success along the way helps
to build strong teams and strengthen employee
engagement. Besides – you've earne d it and so have
they!
