PSAI Association Insight, October 27, 2021 I 19 PSAI Board of Directors Nominees All candidates are listed in alphabetical order (continued on page 20) Chris McCarthy Mr. John Pittsburgh As the President of Mr. John and an industry veteran with 27 years of experience, I'm pleased to run for the PSAI Board as a next step in leadership. Through executing and advancing the organization's vision, mission, and strategic plan, I am confident that I can foster growth for the PSAI and its members. I would approach this role with three goals in mind: to create value for members by improving industry standards and cultivating portable sanitation best practices; support members' success by increasing business tools and resources; and to improve member engagement through inclusivity, with a focus on the next generation of portable sanitation leaders. Over the course of my career, I've attended an estimated 40 PSAI events, facilitated countless round tables, and led discussions as a panelist. I have served on committees including: Image & Education, Standards & Industry Guidance, and Finance & Audit. Furthering my leadership experience, I chaired 2009 PSAI Nuts & Bolts, participated in the 2012 Strategic Planning Meeting, and shadowed the Board in two international meetings. The PSAI has contributed to my personal and professional development through education, friendship, collaboration, and mentoring and I hope to give back by sharing these opportunities with others. Operator Candidates (2 Board Spots) Shelby Johansen Rent A Can Toilet Co. As the owner and operator of Rent A Can Toilet Co. in Eagle River, Alaska, I have invested over 20 years to our industry. I became a PSAI Member as a result of seeking out ways to expand our company's education in our office, with our service techs, and within our shop. In every facet we continue to strive to give the best experience possible to our clients while maintaining a healthy work environment. Working in Alaska gives me a unique viewpoint in our industry due to the remoteness from the lower 48 states. While also having similar challenges to yours in overcoming such large service territories, extreme weather conditions, as well as economic challenges throughout the years. I have continuously strived to build lasting relationships with our clients, our vendors, and our educational partners. I feel that in this pursuit I have developed the skills and vision to lead the PSAI on the educational front. I know that it is by the collective efforts and input of our members that PSAI will truly lead, define, and expand the uniform industry standard that is needed to stay ahead of evolving practices.
