ASSOCIATIONINSIGHT Portable Sanitation Association International News BIWEEKLY EDITION FEBRUARY 17, 2021 Page 23 Enhance Your Portable Sanitation Website!…continued from page 22 You may have to invest a little money in someone's time to create your website, but you should figure this as a cost of doing business. When you skimp on a website or leave your web outreach to a Facebook page, you may come off as a business that may not be reliable, and frankly, a bit cheap or simply not modern enough. One small business that found someone to create their website is PSAI operator member A & C Septic Services from Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Owners Jon & Cheri Errico serve a small area for septic work and also have 207 portable units along with a luxury trailer rental. Their website is about two years old, and Cheri told me they had the website built by a website specialist they found through their local chamber of commerce. "Even though much of our business is through word of mouth," Cheri comments, "our website needed to show who we are and provide photos of what we offer." You too may depend largely on word-of-mouth referrals, but you can bet a good many customers will look you up on the web prior to calling. They may even Google your site to get the phone number. As you can see above, the first items you see on the A & C Septic Services website are large clear photos of everything the business offers, and their phone number is prominently displayed. Many of the items that are vital for your website are part of A & C Septic Services' site, so I invite you to check out their site for reference. • Business logo and tag line. Why have a beautiful website if you are not showing off what makes your business who you are? That is usually your logo and business slogan or tagline. Your logo needs to be prominent on the page and you may want to consider having it in the top left corner of every page on your site. The logo should be linked to take the user to your homepage no matter where they are on your site. Photos of employees, trucks or units with your logo on them should be all over your website. Visit websites of your favorite soft drink company, car manufacturer, or streaming service to see how they display their logos. Brand awareness is real, and it is powerful. Your company doesn't have a logo? No worries. You don't need to hire an expensive logo designer. Text logos are just as good, with only one percent of the cost. You can create your own beautiful logo by using text and a background color you like—and voilà! You can also use a basic shape, with text and colors, or you can purchase a basic logo design very inexpensively and customize it. The site 123rf.com is a great source for that. • Services/products page. This is probably the main reason customers are on your site. Don't skimp on this information. List information about the services and products you offer. Begin with a summary of your services before adding details. If your services/products are vast and their descriptions are extensive, divide them into sections, and link to landing pages where readers can learn more about a particular service or product. The writing should be clear, concise, and grammatically correct. Create a synopsis of the services/products offered, offer bullet points of services with short explanations, and include links to learn more details. A&C Septic Services' homepage.
