ASSOCIATIONINSIGHT Portable Sanitation Association International News BIWEEKLY EDITION FEBRUARY 17, 2021 Page 24 On the A & C Septic Services site, their services are broken into three separate pages as a drop-down. This works well to have information separated out instead of being all on one page. • Contact/About Us Page. Your contact page shows potential customers how they can get in touch with you. Pages needs to contain your business phone, email address, and physical address. Ideally, this information is also found in the footer on all of your website pages where possible. Don't forget to display your business hours too. Many websites use a contact form that customers can fill out to request information. A contact form is fine, but you should also have your email address displayed. Yes, you may get some spam messages, but being more open to your customers and having them know where their message is going is much better. The A & C Septic Services contact page says, "The Erricos encourage the public to call them not only for service, but for information about how septic systems operate. And when customers call, they reach Jon or Cheri any time, day or night." That is how you get business. • FAQ Page. If there is an industry that lends itself to lots of questions, it is the portable sanitation industry. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page is fantastic for SEO; just remember it is also extremely useful to put your customers at ease about calling you. When you can effectively answer common question on your website, you are, in effect, having your first conversation with your customer. • Testimonials. Right now you can go on Amazon.com and find an Instant Pot that has more than 173,000 reviews. Let's just say that reviews and testimonials mean something to people. When it comes to service, having a testimonial may be the highest determining factor when it comes to getting someone's business. A & C Septic Services has their customer reviews right on their home page. While having this info on another page by itself is okay, it is smart to have it right out front since, as I previously mentioned, it is one of the main reasons you will get contacted. • Web Address. This is not as big of a deal now as it was in the early days of Internet, but it is still important. Treat your web domain name like it is part of your brand. It should be easy for a user to type it into a web browser or an e-mail address. I also recommend the .com domain as users are conditioned to type that extension and you are a company. Avoid using dashes (which can cause SEO headaches) and numbers (which can cause confusion for customers). You can be creative and fun, but your business name is usually the best choice for your web address. If you have a web address that is long, confusing, or fails to represent your business, you should consider changing it. If you have all of the above included in a well-designed, nice-looking website, you will look like a company with which a customer wants to do business. Be sure to look for the upcoming article on SEO to take your enhanced web page to the next level. If your company is a little larger, you may want to be a bit more robust with your website. I will get into those must haves for you in Part II that you can read in the next newsletter coming out on March 3rd. v Enhance Your Portable Sanitation Website!…continued from page 21
