Page 18 ASSOCIATIONINSIGHT Portable Sanitation Association International News BIWEEKLY EDITION FEBRUARY 5, 2020 Karibu Loo Update…continued from page 17 Karibu Loo is currently the largest provider of portable sanitation services in Kenya. We have made progress on business disciplines, such as pricing and receivables, by walking away from business that doesn't make sense. We also implemented stricter financial policies, addressing the need for operating capital and cash reserves. Portable sanitation remains an emerging business in Kenya. Two of our principal competitors went out of business in 2018/2019, but a variety of start-ups appear from time to time. We have a competitive advantage because in this capital-intensive business, our capital is donated. Add to that the quality of our units and the corporate social responsibility we represent to clients and we have a strong, unique value proposition. In 2020, we will focus on strengthening our successful online and social media strategy while continuing to pursue commercial business development efforts, especially in the construction industry. We are working toward self- funding replacement of our original truck which we bought used in 2016 and is now approaching the end of its useful life. In 2018 with strong donor support, we purchased an additional new truck that is serving the business well. Karibu Loo remains focused on contributing to Ngong Road Children Association's mission of educating impoverished Nairobi children. You have been an important part of growing this social enterprise. Thank you. We will continue to keep you updated on our results. With thanks, Keith Keith Kale Board Member
