If you are, odds are good you're thinking about how to pay for your education. We have good news! Visionary PSAI leaders started a scholarship program back in 2004. Its goal is to help deserving students from the portable sanitation industry make their way through school. Whether you plan to attend college or a trade school, we can help. Our scholarships cover either option. Federal laws dictate, however, that the award amount varies depending on the path you choose. Applications Open until March 16, 2020 Since the PSAI started its scholarship program, more than 100 college students have received scholarships totaling $357,500 to further their education. Incoming freshmen and current college undergraduates who are PSAI Member company employees or the employees' immediate family members can apply. Continued on page 2 Continued on page 3 Coronavirus and Portable Sanitation By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director For the past few weeks, news has been filled with information about the outbreak of a new virus in China. Dubbed "coronavirus" by scientists and known officially as 2019-nCoV, this disease is spreading rapidly and has been fatal in hundreds of cases. On Thursday, January 30, the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a "public health emergency of international concern." Although there have been only a small number of cases in the US so far, on January 31, 2020, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II declared a public health emergency for the United States to aid the nation's healthcare community in responding to 2019-nCoV.
