W EEKLY EDITION OCTOBER 23, 2019 Adv an ta ge s of Asso ci at io n Eve n ts B y Todd Ginter , PSAI Marketing Manager Networking with peers It is understandable that some people do not like the idea of networking. It can seem intimidating and may feel like it does not fit your personality. However, at an event like the Nuts & Bolts E ducational Conference, there are some unique ways for you to network without making it look like you are actually networking. Besides the educational offerings that you can have lengthy discussions with your peers about, you have the opportunity to visit two operator worksites and get an up - close and personal view of how they operate their business. Where else are you going to get that type of inside information and talk directly with someone running the same business as you? During the conference you can also participate in the Urgent Run that benefits a charity that works to help hungry families in Houston and sanitation in Kenya . A three - mile walk (for those who don't run) can provide ample time for you to connect with an industry colleague. I am sure that many at tendees this year at Nuts & Bolts will attend the Thursday evening party too. Since we are in Houston and it is the 50 th a nniversary of the moon landing, this themed event is called, "Houston, we have a party" will have games, contests, a live DJ and everyone is encouraged to wear a space themed costume. By the time the conference is over, you will be excited about all the educational information you received and amazed at all the connections you made without really trying to "network." Meeting with supplier s Being part of an association is about continually gathering knowledge that will inevitably help your business. PSAI events can be one of the best places where you can learn about new products and services from supplier businesses. At Nuts & Bolts you can visit with suppliers during the supplier t abletop display time and of course the PSAI Convention and Trade show in March is chock full of time to visit with suppliers in preparation of another busy year ahead. Discovering innovative products that will ass ist your business is vital for you to stay competitive in today's business world. You can decide to find this information on your own by going to websites or reading a magazine, but there is nothing like seeing the product up close and getting your questio ns answered in person by a company representative.
