WWETT 2018 is now in the history
books. Before we completely switch
gears and head back out the door to
Portland, let's take a look at the great
week the PSAI had.

Top and Bottom Right: The PSAI collaborated
with Informa Exhibitions to provide three
portable sanitation specific training courses
for WWETT attendees. Nearly 250 people
attended the three sessions including
"Preparing for Hazards," "Portable Sanitation
and Special Events, and the PSAI's Basic
Service Technician Training Course. Executive
Director Karleen Kos led the first two sessions
with assistance from Board Secretary Jennifer
Corrigan of JW Craft in Naples, Florida, and
past Board President Ron Inman from
Northwest Cascade-Honey Bucket. Super
volunteer Flay Anthony led the Basic Service
Technician Training Course.
PPE: What to Do When the Team Says 'Nope'

Since the early 1990s the PSAI has listed four basic items as the
minimum standard for personal protective equipment (PPE) that
should be worn by service technicians in the field. These include:
• Waterproof boots with steel toes
• Waterproof gloves
• Eye protection
• Hard hats
In addition to these minimum standards, the Association recognizes
that the job often calls for other items to be worn. Reflective vests are
common. Some job sites mandate things like Tyvek suits. The law
even requires employers to provide these items and employees to
wear them if required by the company.
