W EEKLY EDITION AUG 2, 2017 Getting Down to the Nuts and Bolts …continued By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director • Matt Lundeen is resid ent agent in charge of the EPA's Criminal Investigation Division. In light of the disposal issues that have arisen in our industry in the past year – and the questions from operators about how the EPA approaches illegal dumping – Matt's presentation is esp ecially timely. • Kevin Henderson and the students of his "Attracting and Retaining Talent" course at St Thomas University are on tap with information specifically geared to the portable sanitation industry. Kevin and his students will be spending the fall d igging deeply into the issues that affect your company's ability to recruit, hire, and retain qualified service technicians, dispatchers, sales staff and other key employees. They'll be reporting on the findings of their four - month project on Saturday, Nov ember 4. Kevin will also be sharing information from his research on the employer behaviors that most influence retention and what you can do to make changes if needed. • Larry Towner from Peach State Truck Centers will bring you up to speed on the truck spe cifications and maintenance needed to maximize your profits. Larry will be focusing mainly on the engine and chassis, and he'll be followed by a panel of experts who'll address components such as tanks, pumps, and related equipment. • Mike Adams and Kelly Ne wcomb will present what they've learned about how to successfully implement price increases. • The PSAI's Training Committee will debut its new course covering transportation and logistics in portable sanitation. In addition to our speakers, we've added an extra round table session – so there will be three formal roundtables during the event and an informal roundtable luncheon on Saturday. As usual we will also offer the PSAI's Basic Service Technician Training Course and the certification exam for those who would like to add or update their credential. Our site visits will include On Site Sanitation in Little Canada, Minnesota, and Satellite Industries in Plymouth, Minnesota. On Site was founded in the 1980s by Karen and Dave Holm and has grown into one of the market leaders in the Twin Cities, offering a diverse array of services including luxury trailers, shower trailers, and climate control solutions for thawing and humidity control. Satellite Industries began as a portable restroom operator in the 1950s and eventually morphed into a supplier of portable restroom units, trucks, trailers, deodorizers and other products. You'll be visiting the company's Twin Cities headquarters. PAGE 2 CONTINUE D ON PAGE 3
