WEEKLY EDITION November 23, 2016 First Impressions of a PSAI Nuts and Bolts Conference Rachel Johnson , the PSAI's Director of Marketing and Communications, gives her commentary after participating in her first industry event. As the 2016 Nuts and Bolts Educational Conference came to a close on Saturday afternoon, I felt a bittersweet sense of relief. Wh ile I was glad to know that the PSAI had finished a successful event, the closing remarks signaled that it was time to say goodbye to those I had spent the previous four days getting to know. Being so new to the PSAI staff, I was unsure of what to expect at my first association event. However, if I had to encompass the whole experience in one phrase, it comes down to phenomenal, hardworking, and incredibly welcoming people that make up the Portable Sanitation Association International. As I sat in on the PSAI's b oard and committee meetings, roundtable discussions, and even on dinner conversation, it was blatantly obvious just how much each Member cares about the betterment of this industry. Whether they were discussing best practices or sharing experiences , operators and suppliers alike were eager to listen, learn, and help one another however possible. I heard firsthand of instances where Members set aside their differences and helped one another , offering up their own trade secrets. I was so impressed wit h the comradery and respect these people have for one another. In a similar sense, I remain incredibly appreciative of this association's eagerness to help me . Each M ember took some of their time to greet me in the halls, offer a business card, or assure me they were an available resource.
