This description is culled from a long history of businesses run by members of the same family. The portable sanitation industry began with a large number of local family-owned businesses in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, companies range in size from the traditional "mom and pop" companies to large corporations, some that operate in multiple countries around the world. The next two chapters in our PSAI 50th Anniversary Celebration will focus on "Fathers and Sons." With Father's Day observed this month, it is an appropriate time to learn about and be inspired by multi-generation family-owned businesses and their important impact on our Association and our industry. Rumors and opinions are flying as to why that is the case. The American Trucking Association (ATA) has suggested that the United States currently lacks approximately 60,000 drivers, a number that could rise to as many as 200,000 truckers by 2026.
