When followed, these practices help keep the food supply safe; when not followed, people get sick. Expensive recalls lead to food shortages. Consumer confidence plummets. Worker safety is compromised. Farm and job sites where GAP requirements are in place already had a firm set of rules before the COVID-19 pandemic. Frequent inspections ensure rules are followed. Since early 2020, inspection cycles at these sites appear to be increasing, and heightened inspections raise all parties' expectations.
