It Works!…continued from page 24 8. Advertising increases company traffic. As I mentioned above, an advertisement is your introduction to customers. A customer is more likely to visit a business after viewing an advertisement because they already feel that business is receptive to them. More customers mean more sales and more business for you. A survey I recently read from an advertising consulting company said that of more than 3,000 companies it spoke to, business advertisers who maintained or expanded advertising over a five-year period saw their sales increase an average of 100 percent. Companies that cut advertising, grew at less than half the rate of those who advertised steadily. 7. Advertising gives your company a positive image. Advertising tells your audience and your competitors that you are open and ready for business. Dynamic and positive advertising can entice customers to your business regardless of the economy and competition. 6. Advertising promotes repeat business. With all of the choices consumers are able to make, many once- loyal customers have strayed from their usual businesses in search of other options. Advertising reminds your customers why they chose your business in the first place and why they should continue to choose you in the future. 5. Advertising helps your business compete. There are only so many customers in the market in need of your services at any given time. Advertising helps businesses stay ahead of the game while competing with other businesses. Advertising is how you convince the customer that you are the one they should choose. 4. Advertising promotes continuous business. Not every consumer is going to need your business services or products today, but every day there will be new customers ready to call on you. Advertising helps make sure the customer knows, when they are in need, that your business will be there to help them. A continuous amount of customers visiting your business—via your website these days—is the first step to increase your sales. The more customers you have, the more business you will have. Advertising creates business now and in the future. 3. Advertising keeps your business top of mind with your customers. With so many options available to customers, oftentimes they will want to shop around and compare different products or service providers. Advertising ensures that your company is always at the front of a consumer's mind reminding them why they should choose you. 2. Advertising keeps your potential customers informed. When a new product, service or event is ready to launch, advertising allows your customers to be informed and aware of the details. Advertising does the work for people, as opposed to forcing them to hunt down the information. One of the things the PSAI hears most commonly from the public is, "I didn't know there were portable restrooms that [flush or come on luxury trailers or are available in pink]." If people know what you have, they'll call you. And advertising your higher end products helps raise the bar for our industry too. The more people who know about higher end options, the more people will choose them.
