How standards are set would take another article. The purpose of this one is to keep you informed about what is happening related to standards that affect or may affect our industry in the near future. ANSI/PSAI Standards The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private nonprofit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States. It is also the official national body that interfaces with the International Organization for Standards (a/k/a ISO), allowing US-based organizations to engage in the process of setting international standards. It has your equipment in it, and the ad says nasty things that reflect poorly on your company. A team member runs across an internet ad by some broker you've never heard of. It's targeted to users in your area, and the broker claims all local portable restroom providers are sub par. They say they'll provide cheaper and better service. You walk onto a job site to check in with one of your best customers. They tell you they were also visited a couple of days ago by representatives of a competitor who told them you are going out of business.
