Lytx Supports CVSA Operation Safe Driver Week Lytx, a provider of machine vision and artificial intelligence-powered video telematics and DOT compliance solutions for commercial fleets has expanded its support of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA). Lytx's sponsorship supports CVSA's various vehicle safety initiatives, including Operation Safe Driver Week held July 12–18, 2020. As part of this traffic enforcement safety program, state and local law enforcement departments throughout North America look to increase road safety by limiting unsafe driving behaviors. The trend of increased speeding on roadways during the pandemic led CVSA to select speeding as the focus for this year's Operation Safe Driver Week. "Lytx is proud to sponsor CVSA and their important road safety initiatives including Operation Safe Driver Week," said Del Lisk, Lytx vice president of safety services. "Our long support of CVSA and its programs has enabled Lytx to share its extensive research and data with CVSA members to assist in solving critical fleet challenges and improve safety practices with video telematics." Lytx's database of commercial driving events revealed that between March 2019 and May 2020, 20% of collisions nationwide occurred among motorists traveling at more than 55 mph. Lytx recorded 33 million speeding-triggered events occurring at the top speed thresholds of 55 mph, 65 mph and 70 mph. This data is an important reminder of the importance of increasing following distance when traveling at higher speeds, since more distance is required to stop when there is a change in the road or level of traffic ahead. Lytx is focused on advancing safe driving. To further ensure this commitment on the nation's roadways, Lytx's Compliance Services support Lytx commercial fleet customers by providing visibility to the root causes of collisions, as well as assisting them in complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for safe driving practices. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is a nonprofit association comprised of local, state, provincial, territorial and federal commercial motor vehicle safety officials and industry representatives. The Alliance aims to achieve uniformity, compatibility and reciprocity of commercial motor vehicle inspections and enforcement by certified inspectors dedicated to driver and vehicle safety. Its mission is to improve commercial motor vehicle safety and uniformity throughout Canada, Mexico, and the United States by providing guidance and education to enforcement, industry and policy makers.
