Some 12.2 million large trucks — those with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or greater — are on
the road in the US alone. While portable sanitation - related vehicles make up only a small
portion of the total, the number of crashes across trucking has been increas ing as shown in the
table below (data from FMCSA.dot.gov.)
The PSAI does not have data that allows us to break down the number of incidents exclusively
related to our industry. Anecdotally, though, we have no reason to think our industry has been
exempted from the increases being seen elsewhere by operators of similarly sized vehicles.
