W EEKLY EDITION OCTOBER 2, 2019 For ty Yea rs wit h the PSAI By Derek Pauling My name is Derek Pauling and I have been involved in the PSAI for almost 40 years! Seriously, I grew up in this industry. My father started our business, Biffs, Inc., in 1986 and he also worked at Satellite Industries from 1975 to 1985. As most of you can likely relate, the only vacation we ever had when I was growing up was the portabl e toilet American dream: attending the PSAI Nuts & Bolts Conference as well as the Annual Convention and Trade Show each year. I am currently the CEO and co - owner of Biffs, Inc. in Minneapolis along with my sister Heather Pauling. I can tell you that even though I have been attending the PSAI events for almost 40 years, EVERY single time I attend a show I gain insight, come up with an idea or an edge, and build a new relationship that creates value for my business. If you don't attend shows like this in the industry, you will absolutely be behind the competition. Don't underestimate the time you need to work "ON" your business and not "IN" it. PSAI educational conferences allow this working "ON" your business time. I am currently serving on the PSAI 's Nominating Committee, as well as the SWAT Committee. I am helping out on these committees because I deeply care about our industry and the PSAI. I am hoping to bring more people into this great network of portable restroom companies learning and sharin g together. Currently the Nominating Committee is working on getting good candidates to run for the Board of Directors at the PSAI. Becoming a Board member gives you an opportunity to give back to the PSAI community and allows for your important voice to be a part of continually changing and evolving our industry through this highly respected organization. I am also working on the SWAT committee which is a team of people striving hard to offer new experiences and educational tools to continue to bring va lue for those attending the shows. So get "OUT" of your business and attend these PSAI events. Start working "ON" your business so you can continue to enhance the value of your company! - DP P AGE 3 DEREK PAULING
