This standard prescribes minimum
environmental health requirements for camps
(whether temporary or permanent) for
temporary labor and for field sanitation. The
purpose is to protect the health of these
workers and, indirectly, the health of the
public who may consume the agricultural
produce from these fields. The standard
covers living quarters, water supply, toilet
facilities, hand washing and bathing facilities,
insec t control, and first aid, among other
topics. The currently required ratio of toilet
facilities and hand wash stations is shown in
figures 1 and 2.
