W EEKLY EDITION AUGUST 7, 2019 Standards Raise the Bar and Inform Construction Customer Decisions By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 - 2016: Sanitation in Non - sewered Waste Disposal Systems This standard applies to sanitary waste disposal systems for all places of employment where such systems are not connected to a sanitary sewer, s eptic tank, or on - site sewage disposal treatme nt facility. Its purpose is to assure that employees who don't have access to indoor sewered toilets are provided with healthful and adequate alternatives. The current minimum ratio of required units is shown i n figures 1 and 2. A N S I /P S A I Z 4 .4 - 2 0 1 6 : S an i ta t io n i n F i e l ds an d T e mp o ra ry L ab o r C am p s This standard prescribes minimum environmental health requirements for camps (whether temporary or permanent) for temporary labor and for field sanitation. The purpose is to protect the health of these workers and, indirectly, the health of the public who may consume the agricultural produce from these fields. The standard covers living quarters, water supply, toilet facilities, hand washing and bathing facilities, insec t control, and first aid, among other topics. The currently required ratio of toilet facilities and hand wash stations is shown in figures 1 and 2. Note: These standards are available free to PSAI Members in the PSAI Resource Library.
