W EEKLY EDITION JULY 10, 2019 Remembering Clyde Sansom By Jeff Wigley, Past President, PSAI Board of Directors As part of his innovative spirit, Clyde established our company as a regional warehouse in the early 2000s for his successful line of units. He was a very approachable and inspiring person to work for. After Clyde sold his company, he continued to stay engaged. He was not the kind of person that sells and "rides off into the sunset." Clyde's presence gave credibility and confidence to the ne w companies that sold his product. Terri and I attended Clyde's 75 th Birthday Party in St Louis in the mid - 2000s and he made it clear to all attendees that "he was not finished with the portable restroom business." C l y d e w a s a v e r y s u pp o rt iv e f r i e n d . We took Clyde's advice about the PSAI and Terri attended many of the early shows while I stayed behind and ran routes and serviced our customers. Eventually we grew to the point that I started attending PSAI events with Terri and we thoroughly enjo yed the camaraderie and the knowledge that was shared. I eventually joined the PSAI Board, much to Clyde's delight. During the "Dark Days" of the PSAI from 2011 - 2013, Clyde was very supportive of me as President and pseudo - Executive Director. He could h ave easily sat things out or aligned his sympathies with the former Executive Director of 20 years, but Clyde loved the PSAI and only wanted the best for his beloved Association. Clyde's support and friendship cannot be understated. One of my most profou nd and touching moments was with Clyde at the Myrtle Beach Convention in 2014. He and I were posing for a picture together just after I received the Andy Gump Award. Clyde was the first recipient of this most prestigious award in 1992. As we were shakin g hands, after all that we had been through for almost 20 years, Clyde leaned over and said "I am proud of you, kid!" It brought a tear to my eye then as it does just now. That, my friends, is Clyde Samson. May God rest his soul. - JW P AGE 14
