"Very interesting and extremely logical next steps" per Mr. Spock… The "Enterprise" is now ready to move at "warp speed" in order to complete its "5 Year Mission!" • At the Nuts and Bolts Educational Workshop in Tampa in November, the Beta Test of the new Certification Exam will be given. Mo re respondents will mean more certification revenue for the PSAI and – importantly – higher overall standards for our industry. • Soon thereafter, the Exam will be available online in order to better meet the needs of companies and certification candidates, and to increase participation in the program. • The PSAI Training Committee has done an outstanding job in creating and producing a series of training courses that candidates can take in preparation for the exam. These courses have been structured to addre ss the five knowledge domains. They are not mandatory, but those seeking an educational foundation to help them grow their knowledge and competency prior to taking the test will find the courses to be extremely beneficial. • Looking ahead, the PSAI expects its Certification Program will ultimately have 3 levels of credentials, which professionals will choose depending on the work experience of the Route Service Technician: • Certified Portable Sanitation Apprentice • Certified Portable Sanitation Professional ( after 2000 work hours) • Certified Portable Sanitation Operator in Charge (supervisor) The Certification Commission has "boldly gone where no one has gone before" (in terms of Certification for portable sanitation professionals) and the work continues! Tha nk you to EVERYONE who has participated and contributed over the many years of this arduous process! P AGE 16 CONTINUED ON PAGE 17
