It was a priceless moment and made me feel that, even though I was a lowly sales assistant, one day I might become something greater than I could see. Contrasting the various sales approaches I mentioned earlier against Charlie's way, I would buy from Charlie any day of the week. He was invested in me — and in his relationship with me — for the long haul. I knew there was no way he would ever send me down the wrong path. Charlie has now been at the Star - Tribune for fifty - three yea rs. He is seventy - eight years young, and because he loves people so much he still puts in a full day in spite of the fact that he is technically "retired" and is acting as a "part - time" sales consultant. I also think the Star - Tribune, knowing what a relat ionship focused person he is, will do everything in its power to hold on to him for as long as possible! P AGE 9 CONTINUED ON PAGE 10
