W EEKLY EDITION JULY 25, 2018 CONTINUED ON PAGE 6 P AGE 5 PSAI Posts Banner Year KOS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 2 Here are some highlights of w hat has been accomplished since July 1, 2017: Education, Advocacy, and Information (EI) • Adopted a long term Industry Repositioning Strategy and began work on shifting attitudes toward portable sanitation through media outreach, outreach to schools and chi ldren, and other tactics. • Held the first Annual Urgent Run, raising more than $4,000 for Friends of Ngong Road/Karibu Loo, a charity in Kenya focused on children's education and improved sanitation. • Joined with the World Toilet Organization and the United Nations to jointly celebrate World Toilet Day and World Portable Sanitation Day on November 19, 2017. Standards and Guidance (SG) • Worked with global experts on two international efforts: ISO 30500 – a new standard for sustainable, nonsewered waste system s which includes "next generation toilets," and IWA 28 – an international working agreement on community scale, resource - oriented sanitation systems. The scope of IWA 28 is shown in the diagram below. • Received renewal of the PSAI's ANSI accreditation as a standards - developing organization Reviewed the underlying assumptions of the 1987 Missouri Study on sanitation requirements for large gatherings and turned the findings over the to the EI for updating and re - publishing. Training and Credentialing (TC) • I ntroduced two new training courses: Transportation and Logistics in Portable Sanitation debuted at the November 2017 Nuts and Bolts Educational Conference in Minneapolis and Servicing and Maintaining Portable Sanitation Equipment was delivered for the firs t time at the March 2018 Annual Convention and Trade Show in Portland .
