W EEKLY EDITION JUNE 27, 2018 PSAI Annual Survey Part III: The State of the Industry …continued By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director Portable restroom trailers continue to gain market share. About 70% of respondents have at least one trailer in their fleet, and 10% have more than 50 trailers. The majority of companies have 20 trailers or fewer . About 94% of re sponding companies own their service trucks. Most have 10 or fewer total trucks, and in genera l the trucks fall below the 26,001 pound GV W R threshold. While this information is in line with past data, it was somewhat surprising that nearly 60% of companies do own one or more trucks over that weight threshold, and 13% own 11 or more of the large tru cks. This suggests that as companies are increasing the number of units they own and service, they are also stepping up to the larger trucks that allow them the flexibility to service more units per route. In keeping with the trends ov erall, equipment budgets are growing as well. More than half of all companies report annual capital expenditures in excess of $100,000 , and a full 30% state they spend more than $200,000 per year on capital investments.
