Is it Gross to "Go Green?"
Providing blow dryers in restrooms rather than paper
towels may be a win for the environment, but it may cost
users their health according to a new study
If you're not interested in leaving the restroom with fecal
bacteria all over your hands, consider skipping the blow
dryer. Scientists have discovered that the handy, heavy
blasters are actually sucking up the bacteria in the air and
spraying it right back at us before we walk out the door.
The more powerful and speedy the blower, the more air
and bacteria it will gift you. And it's not just on those of us who take the time to wash our hands (ahem),
researchers found that bacteria will travel through the whole of a building on our bodies and through
the air system. The University of Connecticut, where the study was performed, has now added paper
towel dispensers to all 36 bathrooms surveyed.
