WEEKLY EDITION April 11, 2018 The PSAI's Days are Numbered But the Number is a Big One. Click here to take the PSAI's Annual Survey. The following is a message from PSAI Executive Director Karleen Kos: I recently read an article that said that more than half of associations will be dead or dying by 2030. This shouldn't come as a surprise considering that, according to Forbes , 90% of all new businesses fail. Associations are just businesses with a different business model. If the past is any indication, there are likely to be hundreds of associations starting up over the next 10 - 20 years, and many of them will likely fail or die after a period of time just like their for - p rofit counterparts. We all get those calls or emails from time to time. Someone claims to have gotten your name from the PSAI – or maybe they say they've been "researching your company" and came across your name on a PSAI list. It's hard to know what's true. Here are some things you should know about how we use your data: • We do not sell our Membership list to outside parties. • Members have access to basic information about other Members through the Industry Resource Directory and related tools. This includes name, address, phone, email and Membership level. • With your permission, we share basic information with partner groups such as ARA so that you can access some of their benefits. • Basic information about PSAI event attendees is shared with exhibitors and other at tendees of that same event. • You can opt out of having your information shared with exhibitors, partner groups, other Members, or having it listed on the PSAI's website. Contact info@psai.org to learn more. • The PSAI does not store your credit card or bank a ccount information. If you are contacted by someone stating they got your name from the PSAI – or that we suggested they call you – be suspicious. Unless they are a fellow Member or recent exhibitor, there's a good chance they have a loose relationship wi th the truth. Please give us a call to check it out. When the PSAI office finds out about issues like this, we typically contact the offender and make it clear they need to stop what they are doing. These days you need to know what's going on with your d ata. Let us know how we can help.
