WEEKLY EDITION March 28, 2018 More than 400 Gathered for the PSAI's 49 th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Portland, Oregon The PSAI Convention and Trade Show ran from March 21 – March 24 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon Last week more than 400 people gathered in Oregon to learn from one another, conduct business, and celebrate our industry. Attendees hailed from every corner of the globe. The US and Canada were well represented, and numerous International Members were abl e to meet with their fellow operators and suppliers face to face. With three days of education, a trade show floor displaying the latest products and technologies, awards recognizing excellence in our industry, and fantastic prizes, everyone had plenty of reason to be proud of the work we all do. Over the next few weeks we will feature photos and highlights from the event – there's simply too much to put into one issue of Association Insight . This week we will start with an overview of the educational conte nt. Check back next week when we will highlight the trade show! How to Change the Public's Perception of Your Company: Part II By PSAI Executive Director Karleen Kos In the March 14 issue of Association Insight , we discussed how to deal with bad publicity related to a recent and specific incident. Today, let's look at more general things you can do to change the public's perception of your company. Going forward if you know there is a negative perception "out there" There are many reasons a c ompany may want to polish its image in front of customers and the public. Maybe there have been one or more negative incidents you haven't quite lived down. Maybe your company is newer and your first few larger jobs have had some kinks in them. Here are so me things you can do in those cases. • Use testimonials. Testimonials from customers can greatly help a salesperson to overcome negative perceptions of your company, especially if the testimonials praise recent improvements made by a business. This shows yo ur company not only made a concerted effort to remedy the situation, but that others have already taken a chance and had good results. A trusted referral source can also help dispel fear or negative impressions by vouching for the company's product even th ough a bad reputation exists. The group then transitioned to the hotel bar for more socializing after the session.
