Where Has Taiwan's Toilet Paper Gone?
A nationwide shortage caused by planted price inc reases has bathroom goers in a fix
Few things are worse than finding yourself in a stall or unit and
suddenly realizing there is no toilet paper. This small situation
seems so unfortunate because few of us have a nation - wide
toilet paper shortage to compa re it to. Taiwan, however, is
facing a lack of TP daily. A rise in toilet paper prices caused a
panic among citizens, causing many to stock up at their nearest
supermarket. This triggered shortages in stores around the
country, which has snowballed into to ilet paper rationing in the
workplace. An English - language schoolteacher was shocked
when she realized that the rolls of the school were kept locked
up to be checked in and out for usage. Students are informed to
bring their own supply with them, which is the norm when using
public restrooms. There's even talk of toilet paper monopolies
planning the price increases to cause the frenzy, leading the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission to impose sanctions.
Talk about a multi - layered story. We'll have to see how all o f this roles out.
