29 2018 INDUSTRY RESOURCE DIRECTORY As you will see in reviewing the ANSI and OSHA standards included in this book, the current ANSI standards are higher than those of OSHA. ANSI standards, and the PSAI's involvement in establishing them, help the PSAI and its Members raise the bar and improve the reputation of our industry. Who creates and updates the standards that are relevant to portable sanitation? The PSAI serves as the accredited Standards Developer for three standards that closely affect our industry. This means the PSAI takes the lead in building a consensus among representatives from materially affected and interested parties in ensuring the standards are up to date and reflect the best thinking of those affected, following ANSI's required processes on a regular schedule to make sure they are up to date. In 2016 the PSAI finalized the most recent updates of the following ANSI standards. Other organizations also write standards that affect our industry using ANSI's process. Information on the following pages describes the most relevant standards for PROs. Where can I get more information or provide input on the standards concerning portable sanitation? Contact the PSAI regarding the standards specific to portable sanitation. Review the ANSI website at www.ansi.org for information about the nonprofit ANSI organization.
