4 2018 INDUSTRY RESOURCE DIRECTORY YOUR ASSOCIATION. YOUR RESOURCES. Karleen Kos Executive Director WELCOME to the 2018 PSAI Industry Resource Directory! Within the first few years of the PSAI's existence, the tradition of printing an annual catalog began. Year after year suppliers to the portable sanitation industry advertised their wares and looked forward to receiving the printed membership list contained in the catalog's pages. In those pre-internet days, portable restroom operators (PROs) depended on the catalog for a quick look at products each supplier could offer. It was a win- win proposition, and it became an annual tradition. A lot has changed at the PSAI since its founding in 1971, but the importance of providing information to operators and suppliers has not. You might think a printed volume and online equivalent from the PSAI isn't as necessary now, when a simple Google search will provide thousands of options to any operator or supplier, but that isn't so. Today the challenge isn't finding information—it's finding good information. And that is where the PSAI's Industry Resource Directory comes in. The IRD is an annual volume created with an eye to helping you and your business succeed. A few years ago we started adding articles on industry-related topics, evolving the annual publication from a catalog to a compilation of resources you may need throughout the year. I'm pleased to announce that the PSAI has now created so many resources that it isn't practical to publish them all at once—the book would simply be too large. So for 2018 we have: • Updated the industry data and benchmarks found in the Overview section • Updated and retained the most frequently referenced articles • Added new articles on topics operators most often ask about • Removed articles that are less often sought and placed them in a new section of the PSAI website, the "Resource Library," which is available only to PSAI Members Last year we redesigned the Member Directory section of the book to make it easier to find exactly what you're looking for. PROs are listed both alphabetically and by state or country. Industry Suppliers can be found both by name and by the equipment or services they provide. This year we've retained this approach, and we are pleased to recognize our platinum-level suppliers by placing their logos throughout their listings. Their support for the PSAI is exceptional, and we hope you will tell them how much you appreciate their commitment to our Association. But don't forget: all of the suppliers whose ads appear in the IRD have made this volume possible. Please be sure to mention their ads when you talk with them. The PSAI, its Board, and its staff look forward to continuing to improve the PSAI. We are committed to working with you to provide better worksites, better weekends, and a better world.
