Industry Innovation at its Finest More progress toward ending open defecation India's goal of becoming free of open defecation by October of 2019 is inspiring companies outside of the sanitation industry to build toilets. Ramdas Mane is using thermocol with cement coating to build units, each taking about two hours to complete. Hi s company, Mane Group of Companies, creates thermocol machines and supplies them to nearly 45 countries. And he has now supplied 22,000 portable toilets across India. "We also give these as wedding gifts to girls who don't have the capacity to build toilet s, and have given them to 25 girls till now", Ramdas said. It's not your typical wedding registry item, but when the alternative is open defecation, it brings more harmony than a kitchen appliance. READ THE STORY
