PSAI Announces 2018 IRD and NEW Online Resource Library By Karleen Kos, PSAI Executive Director You asked for it, you got it! The PSAI is pleased to announce the 2018 Industry Resources Directory AND a new portable sanitation - specific resource library online for Members only. The PSAI has been delivering resources since the 1970s. Within the first few years of the PSAI's existence, the tradition of printing an annual catalog began. As far as we know, it was the first catalog dedicated to the portable sanitation industry e ver. Year after year suppliers to the portable sanitation industry advertised t heir wares and looked forward to receiving the printed membership list contained in the catalog's pages. In those pre - internet days, portable restroom operators (PROs) depended on the catalog for a quick look at products each supplier could offer. It was a win - win proposition, and it became an annual tradition. Needs have changed and the catalog evolved. Since the PSAI's founding in 1971 a lot has changed, but the importance of providing information to operators and suppliers has not. You might think a printed volume and online equivalent from the PSAI isn't as necessary now, when a simple Google search w ill provide thousands of options to any operator or supplier, but that isn't so. Today the challenge isn't finding information — it is finding good information. And that is where the PSAI's Industry Resource Directory comes in. The IRD is an annual volume cr eated with an eye to helping you and your business succeed. A few years ago we started adding articles on industry - related topics, evolving the an nual publication from a catalog to a compilation of resources you may need throughout the year. WEEKLY EDITION February 14, 2018 Proposal to Expand Association Health Plans Draws Feedback The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) submitted comments last week on the Department of Labor's proposed rules to expand association health plans (AHPs). The proposed rule grew out of an executive order issued by President Trump last October, and would broaden the type of groups that could form association health plans with the goal of expanding affordable coverage options for small businesses and the self - employed. ASAE's comments focus on what types of organizations should qualify as an "employer" for the purposes of establishing an AHP (and who could participate in these AHPs), as well as the complexitie s associated with state regulation of AHPs.
