PSAI Announces Alliance with OASIS
The PSAI and OASIS, the Ontario Association of Sewage
Industry Services, have formed a strategic alliance aimed
at delivering enhanced, customized training and
certification services for industry members in English-
speaking North America. The new arrangement was
voted on by the PSAI board earlier in 2017, and following
the outcome of the OASIS meeting in Kingston, Ontario
last week is now fully in place.
Since summer, the PSAI has worked with representatives of OASIS's Toilet Committee to adapt the PSAI's Basic
Service Technician Training Course for Ontario learners. This has included such changes as:
• Removing references to US laws and replacing them with appropriate Canadian citations.
• Adding references to additional Canadian laws where appropriate and replacing required compliance forms
with Canadian versions.
• Adjusting recommended procedures to be in alignment with Canadian environmental regulations. For
example, techniques for the prevention of freezing in restroom tanks cannot include methanol in Ontario,
though methanol is in common use in the United States.
