WEEKLY EDITION November 8, 2017 Photo Recap of Nuts and Bolts 2017 – Day 2 and Day 3 The 2017 conference was held on November 1-4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota After a successful "kick off" on Wednesday last week, the excitement continued in Minneapolis from Thursday through Saturday. View a photo recap of the Thursday and Friday programming below and continued on page 7, and check back next week for Saturday coverage and other fun shots. A Successful Urgent Run Makes Way for More World Toilet Day/World Portable Sanitation Day Efforts! Check out the photos and get ready to take action to help the cause The PSAI is proud to announce that our first annual Urgent Run took place last week and was deemed a major success! A new addition to the Nuts and Bolts Educational Conference schedule this year, the Urgent Run kicked off the PSAI's celebration of World Toilet Day (WTD)/World Portable Sanitation Day (WPSD). The "fun run" attended by conference attendees and Friends of Ngong Road/Karibu Loo helped raise awareness and funds for their portable sanitation-related charity in Kenya. While our event took place at Nuts and Bolts last week, Urgent Runs are going on all over the world during the month of November in coordination with World Toilet Day on the 19th. When the PSAI's Education Initiative Committee set out to plan the 2017 Urgent Run last fall, it was determined that an Urgent Run subcommittee should be formed to take on the task. This group, co-chaired by Lindy Boehme and Karen Holm, decided on an attainable goal for the run's first year; they agreed that a couple of sponsors and 20 participants would make for a decent first-year turnout. Thanks to the hard work of this committee, their original goal was met and exceeded with flying colors. View the results of the run and check out more photos from the event on pages 2 and 3! Then the buses were off to two scheduled site visits to local PSAI Members. At the first visit to On Site Sanitation (pictured right), attendees were able to tour the facilities safe in the knowledge a heated tent was waiting for them at the end of the path.
