The Business Benefits Behind
a Tidy Toilet
The perception of your restroom h as more of an affect on
customer retention than you may think
And the survey says: People prefer clean toilets ! In a
"groundbreaking discovery" – or perhaps, a blinding
glimpse of the obvious – a recent hand washing survey
conducted in the UAE revealed t hat the public's opinion
of a business's WC directly affects their opinion of the
business. Clean bathrooms help companies retain 80%
of their customers, whereas a dirty loo can keep them from coming back. Thank you, Bradley Corporation
for finally flushin g out the truth!

Fecal Fuel is the Future
One of the world's most abundant resources may be the
key to renewable energy
Bring on the fecal sludge! With a population of 7.6
billion people, human waste could easily take over the
world; ruin our water sources and clog our sewers.
Imagine if we could turn our waste into renewable
energy. Science to the rescue! Researchers are finding ways to turn human waste into fuel in evermore
interesting methods. At the University of West England they have turned "pee into power'" using bacteria
usually found on the underside of ships in the ocean. By harnessing the energy of fuel cells feeding on
organic matter in urine they've successfully brought light to a toilet block at a girl's school in Uganda.
Similarly, fecal sludge is being converted into biogas, which according to the University of United Nations
in J apan could potentially produce enough electricity to power 138 million households. AgriProtein in
Cape Town is breeding fly larvae to feed on discarded food waste and beginning to experiment with
human waste, receiving three tons of sludge from 800,000 toi lets for their latest pilot project. And then
there's fuel from fat. "Fatbergs" consist of grease, oil, and fat that clog sewer systems, but through a
process called esteriesterification and then distillation, they can fuel diesel trucks. One of the larges t
fatbergs found underneath London was twice the size of a football field; that's a lot of gas! Learn more
about the exciting new ways our poo can save our world.
