W EEKLY EDITION OCT 18, 2017 The Younger Generation Fights For Global Sanitation ...continued A youth competition that provides solutions for sustainable development goals honors a portable sanitation proposal as a top 5 finalist Team SAVE is confident that this business model could also be used as a way to educate the general public on the importance of proper sanitation, which would have a positive impact on the movement to stop open defecation. The team would develop various educational and informational progr ams to increase the community's awareness of the sanitation crisis. By partnering with the government, their hope is to see government bodies "champion the social acceptance of sanitation through implementation of ordinances and regulation." As of now, th e highlighted proposal is just that – a proposal. However, as one of the winning ideas in the I4A competition, Team SAVE received support from a dedicated startup accelerator at the Wharton School, along with the opportunity to present their ideas during t he IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings last week, where some of the most senior decision - makers in international development, academia, and the private sector were in attendance. This exciting development in portable sanitation and in the global sanitation crisis should be encouraging to all in our industry. Team SAVE's proposal proves that young minds are taking an interest in improving global sanitation, and they recognize that portable sanitation plays a vital role in those efforts.
