As you plan your trip to Minneapolis, fill up your free time before
and after the conference by visiting the following attractions
For many Members, the Nuts and Bolts Educational Conference is
not just a four - day, three - nig ht hotel stay at the selected conference
center. It is a chance to reconnect with fellow colleagues, get up - to -
date on the latest industry innovations, and it is a wonderful excuse to visit new cities. While the Minneapolis area may not
immediately strike you as a hot travel destination, there are plenty of exciting locations to explore. For those who plan on
turning their conference visit into a bit of a vacation, check out the options below that would be great stops before or afte r
the show!
• Take in a sh ow at the Guthrie Theater . This downtown theater is one of the nation's most renowned treasures.
With three stages often times showing three shows a day, the theatre also boasts a restaurant, two casual eateries,
a cocktail lounge, and some of the best vie ws of Minneapolis from the banks of the Mississippi River.
• Visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art . With more than 83,000 works of art on display that span more than 5,000
years, this museum has something for everyone. It is well suited for all ages and is filled with masterpieces by artists
from Titian to Monet.
• Check out the Mill City Museum . Once the largest flourmill in the world, the museum recreates an authentic mill
experience with equipment, railroad cars, and hands - on exhibits demonstrating milli ng techniques. They also
feature a baking lab for cooking demonstrations. Learn more about the city's industrious past.
• Make a second stop at the Mall of America . While the PSAI is visiting the Mall of America for our Friday night event
(see www.psai.org/ psai - nuts - bolts/ for more information), the largest mall in the United States offers plenty to do
on a first and second visit. Shop at over 250 retail stores, ride carnival rides at the indoor theme park "Nickelodeon
Universe," see a movie at the in - mall m ovie theater, go bowling or mini - golfing, see a comedy show, try your hand
at The Escape Game escape room, and so much more.
• Mosey through the Walker Art Center . While it may be colder than some are used to, Novembers in Minnesota
can offer glimpses of be autiful fall weather where taking a walk through an outdoor sculpture garden would be
quite comfortable. The art center features plenty of indoor artwork, however it is the sculpture garden and the
renowned Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture that has become an iconic Minneapolis symbol.
• Catch a Minnesota sporting event – both the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team and the Minnesota Wild
hockey team have home games during the week of Nuts and Bolts. Minneapolis is home to all of the state's major
sports teams, making a trip to one of these stadiums or arenas a breeze.
• Head out on a number of craft brewery tours in a city that is known for its unique brewpubs and popular craft
beers. The city has numerous tours that are pre - arranged, or else construct yo ur own map for a day of visits.
