Joke of the Week
To the irritation of the judge, a portable
sanitation technician named Bill was trying to
be excu sed from jury duty.
"Tell me," began the judge, "is there any
good reason why you cannot serve as a juror
in the trial?"
Bill replied, "I don't want to be away from my
job that long."
"Can't they do without you at work?"
demanded the judge.
"Yes," admitted Bill. "But I don't want them to
realize it."

O rdina nce Over One Portable?
The Destin, FL City Council approved the first reading of a city ordinance that would disallow individual
portable toilets, unless on a permitted construction site or at a permitted specia l event.
A vacant beach lot known as Parcel B recently became home to a single
portable unit, placed there by Peter Bos, a resort owner who also owns the
beach. According to Bos, the toilet was put in place after residents of the area
complained that peo ple were using the sand dunes of the beach as
restrooms. However, now the residents of Destin Pointe, the neighborhood
that backs up to Parcel B, are bothered by the toilet's close proximity to their
properties. " Among other concerns, [they] complained that the toilet had not
been cleaned regularly while it stood on P a rcel B. " While Bos removed the
toilet last fall, following the end of the summer tourist season, the residents are
opposed to its return.
PSAI Executive Director Karleen Kos researched the matter brought before the
City Council and concluded that this matter appe ars to be as much about local
politics as it is about po r t able restrooms. She has offered the PSAI ' s assistance
to the mayor and the council member sponsoring the o rdinance. At this point,
they have not responded.
