New Hotel Scams – and Urgent Deadlines! We are looking forward to our upcoming Convention and Trade Show. Unfortuna tely, so are some travel scammers. Please take note; you may be contacted by a "company" about hotel arrangements for the upcoming conference. Here are some scenarios we are hearing about: • Someone calls and says – or implies - they are calling on behalf of the PSAI. They urge you to make reservations on that very phone call, and they offer to "help" you make the reservation. They ask for your credit card information. • Someone says they can get you a better deal than the PSAI's rate. • Someone says they are contacti ng M embers, attendees or exhibitors to immediately reserve hotel rooms through their service. In one instance when the offer was declined, the company indicated they were with the "housing department" and threatened to cancel any existing reservati ons. Any "company" initiating housing - related calls to event attendees is not authorized and is in no way affiliated with the PSAI or the hotel . The Caribe Royale and the PSAI will never solicit your reservations over the phone. We have also been in cont act with the Caribe Royale directly and they have confirmed are not working with this "company," nor can this "company" cancel any reservations you have made directly with the hotel. To ensure that you are included in the PSAI's hotel block, all arrange ments should be made directly through the Caribe Royale Orlando by Friday, February 10. Be aware this is a firm deadline . A citywide convention will be in Orlando the same time as the PSAI, and the hotel plans to fill any unused rooms as soon as our deadli ne has passed. If you should decide to work with any unaffiliated company to get hotel rooms at the Caribe or elsewhere, please understand you do so at your own risk. Unaffiliated companies often suggest they can get you a better rate at the Caribe. Be a ware of the dangers of this promise: • The rooms are often non - refundable. • There are often substantial hidden fees and small print. • Rooms purchased in this manner often do not include the amenities we have negotiated through the PSAI's room block such as com plimentary Wi - Fi, complimentary resort fees, and complimentary self - parking. The PSAI will not be able to assist you in any way if problems should arise with your hotel reservation if you choose to work with an unaffiliated company. You will be subject to whatever penalties and fees they charge, and neither the Caribe Royale nor the PSAI can help you avoid this or get you a refund of any monies provided to them. W EEKLY EDITION FEB 8, 2017 P AGE 3 Make your reservations at the Caribe Royale by calling 888 - 258 - 7501 or 407 - 238 - 8000. Make sur e you ask for the PSAI group rate – or go online to http://bit.ly/2iExea7. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the PSAI at 952 - 854 - 8300 or via email at info@psai.org.
