Portable Restrooms Have Been a Hot Topic in D.C.
After plenty of discussion around the portable units at the presidential inauguration, porta - potties presented an
unforeseen issue the following day during the Women's March.
While many D.C. Operators prepared for Donald Trump's swearing in and parade, they were also gearing up for the
following day when they would service the Women's March on Washington just 24 hours later. While presidential
inauguration organizers are able to strategic ally plan their unit requirements, the Women's March on Washington
organizers only had their best guess to go off of when determining how many individuals would turn out.
With their original permit estimating 200,000 participants, the gathering made histo ry when over half a million
people participated. It became obvious early on that far
more portable toilets were needed. "When the toilets
behind the stage broke down, security instructed women
to use cups and ushered them into a box truck for
privacy." The re were also reports that the Smithsonian
Museums opened their doors to marchers needing to use
the restroom.
While there are some events that do hit record - breaking
attendance despite planning, this is a reminder to all
Operator Members that your expertise can come in
handy when discussing a customer's needs. Many
marchers would surely have been grateful for extr a units!
