It is Awards Season! Nominate Your Favorite Portable Sanitation Professional by February 1 One of the important roles that Associations play is setting standards for their industries and then recognizing the people who exemplify excellence in meeting them. More than 20 years after the PSAI's founding in 1971, the Association established its firs t award. My family and I were proud to take a role in developing that program, which is named after my grandfather, MZ "Andy" Gump. Today, the PSAI has three categories of awards. They are intended to acknowledge excellence in key industry roles and criti cal contributors to the PSAI. The PSAI's Awards Program is overseen by a peer group composed of the Board's Executive Committee plus former Board President/current candidate Mike Rice, and myself. On behalf of the entire Awards Committee, we hope you will take the time to read about the PSAI's awards and consider nominating someone in your company or circle of friends. As you can tell in the words of past winners, it really means a lot to be recognized as deserving by people you respect. So c'mon – tak e the time and send in a nomination or two. Details o n how to do so are on page 7 of this newsletter. Coon of Bill's Plumbing and Sanikan in Sequim, Washington says: "My manager and a co - worker were the ones that had everything to do with me getting this award. When I found out about it I was in shock – totally blown away. I love my job and I try to do the best job that I can possibly do. I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to attend the Convention and Trad e Show. I really enjoyed it and I like to take advantage of the seminars. It is fascinating to see how diversified the shows are and you meet so many nice people that come from all parts of the world. I enjoy learning from others. I'm amazed that no matter how much I already think I know, I find I can always continue to learn!" WEEKLY EDITION January 25, 2017 CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
