It's Time to Cast Your Vote! The PSAI Board election commenced on Monday, January 16. Member organization eligibility process and communication. Letters were mailed to all Members in December 2016 confirming the designated voter for their organization, and reminding them that only PSAI Members who are current on their membership dues as of January 1, 2017 are eligible to vote. A second letter was mailed to all PSAI Members last week with their member number and ballot access code. The system allows only one vote per set of credentials. Please watch for this letter in your mailbox, and if you have questions, please call the office at (952) 854-8300. We are happy to help! Electronic voting. Voting opened on Monday, January 16 for the 2017 PSAI Board of Directors election. There are five operator candidates this year, and three non- operator candidates. As specified in the PSAI's Bylaws, operator Members vote for operator candidates, and non-operator Members vote for non-operator candidates. (Note: The 'non-operator" category is the category for suppliers. It replaced the more restrictive category called "Associates" when the PSAI Bylaws were updated in 2014.) Your organization will be asked to rank the candidates in order of preference. Adding this element to the voting process should eliminate the possibility of a tie vote and the requirement of a runoff election. The order of the candidates will be randomized – meaning, the order you see the candidates on your ballot is not the same order as the next voter. This is designed to eliminate bias toward those who are first on the list. WEEKLY EDITION January 18, 2017 Moving Units on an Active Site Share Your Best Practices! A golfer. A restroom. A forklift. These unlikely components made a certain portable sanitation-related story show up all over the news last week. We read it easily a dozen times. Here, basically, are the facts as reported in Golf Digest and NBC News: Brian Berg claims that, while watching an iron shot from the fairway this past summer [2016], he was hit by a moving porta-potty that was in the process of being hauled away. Allegedly, an employee had taken a forklift off the golf cart path, with the porta-potty blinding his view. Berg says he was knocked to the ground, where the porta-potty hit him again and left him unconscious. Berg is suing the course -- Fox Run Golf Links in Els Run, Ill. -- as well as the employee who hit him. Please share! We all know that it is best not to move units on an active job or event site – but sometimes you have no choice. Please share your best practices with the PSAI. Under what circumstances will you move a unit? What safety measures do you take to avoid situations like the one above? Share your ideas, and we'll publish the best ones in a future issue of Association Insight. VOTING INSTRUCTIONS AND CANDIDATE BIOS CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
