Nuts and Bolts Educational Conference November 5 – 8, 2014 By Ron Cr osier, PSAI President CONTINUED FROM COVER… The company is participating in several LEED projects in the Dallas area. On the visit you'll learn about their operations and green approach, and get all your questions answered. Steve has also generously offered to provide lunch to all visitors. Knowledgeable and entertaining speakers, panel discussions, workshops and round tables – this year's Nuts and Bolts Educational Conference has ramped up to a who le new level! Sometimes PROs find getting their trucks emptied is as problematic as getting them filled. To this end we will be hosting a panel discussion on the current state and future of formaldehyde and other deodorizers in our industry. A broad spect rum of manufacturers will be represented, and they will share the issues they see having the greatest impact on this i mportant area of our industry. In another session, an expert will be speaking on the effects of portable restroom waste on treatment facil ities. As you have no doubt heard, we recently observed the first World Portable Sanitation Day. This event is the brainchild of our Education, Advocacy and Public Information committee – otherwise known as the Education Initiative or EI for short . EI mem bers will present on the subject of health, the green attributes of portable restrooms and improving our industry's community image through public education. They will also recap WPSD 2014 and fire you up with their ideas for this event going forward. Our final speaker will wrap on Saturday with ideas to get you thinking about the future of disposal for your business. Jon Kallen, Senior VP at Energy Independence Partners will speak on available, proven alternative technologies that you could consider instea d of all those trips to the wastewater treatment plant. My own company has recently completed installation of our own on site sewage treatment facility. Unlike the typical pretreatment facility, this infrastructure fully treats our portable toilet and sep tage for stream discharge. It uses leading edge technology to produce an effluent much cleaner than POTWs and occupies a very small footprint. No longer are we at the mercy and whims of local bureaucrats regarding waste disposal. Furthermore the effluent i s so clean we use it to charge our units, thereby eliminating large water bills. If you've ever thought of owning your own treatment plant, don't miss this! CONTINUED ON PAGE 2… www.psai.org 800 - 822 - 3020 info@psai.org PAGE 1 ! !
