12 I PSAI Association Insight, September 15, 2021 Nuts & Bolts Update: Debut of Train the Trainer and More! By Todd Ginter, PSAI Marketing Director In our last newsletter I shared with you all of the educational opportu- nities available at the Nuts & Bolts Educational Conference happen- ing this November 2-5 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. If you missed that information, I invite you to go back and check out the article. There is plenty of in-depth information in the article about the education you can expect because after all, this is an educational conference! But Nuts & Bolts is more than just education opportunities to help your business. Over the next few newsletters, I will be highlighting some of the other offerings you can experience while attending Nuts & Bolts. Train the Trainer The first option I want to share with you is the brand new Train the Trainer course. What is that? Let me explain. Like any other business owner, you know it is important to stay competitive and relevant in your market—now more than ever. But to be in a position of relevance, training and team development must be added to the list of ingredients that creates your success. A well-trained and motivated workforce is essential for a thriving business, and that is where the concept of training-the- trainer comes into the picture. When you are trained to be a trainer of basic service technician skills, you combine your first- hand experience with relevant curriculum and best practices, turning both into amazing skills and resources to your employees. Having an internal training program is a powerful way to ensure that employees acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to perform well in their jobs. But training to be a trainer is not just for your own business and employees. When you successfully complete the require- ments to become a trainer, you will also be able to train at other companies who may need a trainer, and to train on behalf of the PSAI at events like Nuts & Bolts! This is a commitment! In sessions covering parts of four days, you'll learn our material and how to deliver it effectively. You'll get feedback from other trainers and discover ways to ensure what you teach "sinks in." To become a credentialed trainer you will need to: • Work for a PSAI member company • Attend all four Train the Trainer sessions in Myrtle Beach at Nuts & Bolts • Be eligible for PSAI's certification as a Portable Sanitation Professional • Pass the certification exam if you have not already done so • Deliver a short instructional session to your Train the Trainer peers that demonstrates your readiness to train others • Agree to follow all PSAI policies and requirements for content security and delivery going forward (continued on page 13) We are excited to roll out this new course and we trust it will be a welcome addition to the resources available to your company from the PSAI. Basic Service Technician Training Series and Certification Exam We are also making available at Nuts & Bolts a very important and extremely popular training we continuously offer that can benefit all of your staff. In the portable sanitation industry, the PSAI's Basic Service Technician Training series is widely viewed as the gold standard for educating field staff. It is also an excellent idea to have your sales team, customer service providers and dispatchers take this group of courses. In one day, they get a thorough overview of the things they need to know—and do— to succeed in our industry. In Myrtle Beach, we are offering all three courses in a single day. These classes are approved for continuing education and licensing requirements in many locations worldwide.
