Feb 1-4 Annual Convention and Trade Show, Reno First Days of School A group of five-year-olds was trying very hard to become accustomed to kindergarten. The biggest hurdle they faced was that the teacher insisted there was to be NO babytalk in the classroom. "You need to use big people words," she was always reminding them. On a recent Monday she asked, "John, what did you do over the weekend?" "I went to visit my nana," he replied. "No, John, you went to visit your grandmother," the teacher replied. "Please remember to use big people words. Mary, what did you do over the weekend?" Mary answered, "I took a ride on a choo-choo." Again, the teacher corrected her and said, "No Mary, you took a train ride. Let's use big people words." She then asked Chris what he had done over the weekend. "I read a book with my grandmother," he stated, trying hard to use big people words. "Oh that's great!" enthused his teacher. "What book did you read?" "Winnie the Solid Waste!"
