ASSOCIATIONINSIGHT Portable Sanitation Association International News BIWEEKLY EDITION JUNE 9, 2021 Page 6 S ince February 2020, the global portable sanitation community has come together to bring equipment, cleaning solutions, relief, and comfort to those in need. As an essential industry, our companies have been responsible for sourcing equipment and re-designing service schedules to meet all of the changing needs presented by the pandemic. We have also risen to the occasion as supply chain issues have dogged every part of the economy, from adjusting the formula for sanitizer and redesigning hand wash stations, to finding new sources of raw materials and creatively managing shipping options. Through it all, portable sanitation companies and their industry suppliers have been a vital partner for customers and communities everywhere. During this time, the value of the PSAI has been irrefutable. From our first newsletter article warning about the possible implications of COVID-19 published in January 2020 we have been on top of the resources needed for companies to succeed. We were the only association in our space to offer weekly virtual roundtable discussions to help companies navigate those first several months of confusion and change. We engaged with officials at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure our companies could do business. The PSAI created an entire COVID-19 resource center for portable sanitation companies as early as April 2020, providing valuable templates and direction for a wide range of situations. We also published guidance for the public on the evolving needs where portable sanitation is provided. But COVID-19 wasn't our only focus. On top of all of this pandemic-related work, the PSAI delivered two virtual educational conferences and our usual menu of benefits—biweekly newsletters, an industry resource library, an up-to-date website, business referrals, and more—FREE to members. Our Basic Service Technician Training series and certification exams were adapted for the virtual environment, and we onboarded a new membership data system that makes accessing your company's records easier than ever. The pandemic is winding down now, but our work isn't. Whether you are a PSAI member company, a portable sanitation customer, or a member of the general public, the PSAI is committed to continuing to offer unmatched benefits and information aimed at ensuring everyone enjoys better worksites, better weekends, and a better world through clean, safe portable sanitation options. Over the course of the PSAI's history, the Board has worked to keep the membership fees as low as possible. In fact, when the original fees the PSAI charged in 1971—before the Association was more than an idea and the benefits were all in the future—are adjusted for inflation, the 2020–21 dues are the same as they were in 1971. So, you can see that we have been very frugal and strategic with the dues we receive and the fees we charge for everything from training courses to tradeshow booths. This year, however, the Board has come to the conclusion that the fees charged by the PSAI need to be adjusted comprehensively. This is due in large part to the overall increases we are seeing for doing business: everything from software and printing costs, to personnel, benefits, insurance and overhead are going up dramatically. A Message from the Board Regarding 2021–2022 PSAI Fees Continued on page 7
