Ambrose Named Home Rule Hero
Ross Ambrose (pictured at right)—the managing partner of
Porta Serve and a member of the PSAI board—was recently
honored with a 2021 Home Rule Hero Award from the Florida
League of Cities for his advocacy efforts during the 2021
Legislative Session. In addition to managing his company and
volunteering with the PSAI, Ambrose is the High Springs City
Commissioner. Noted Ambrose, "[We] local representatives
need to use our elected voice to speak up when issues
impacting our ability to govern are challenged."

Stakes Rise to Retain Drivers
According to a recent article in Transport Topics, most truck
drivers are not job hunting. A report the author cited found
that 63.6 percent of surveyed drivers were not seeking new
jobs, most (73.6 percent) because they were happy in their
positions. At the same time, companies are now more likely
to hike pay rates and offer more flexible benefit packages to
keep existing drivers and lure new recruits. One key benefit
(favored by 72.3 percent of drivers) is more time at home.

UK Pair Debuts Women's Urinal
Two recent graduates from the University of Bristol
designed the hands-free Peequal as part of their masters
project to solve "a real world problem." The young women
were inspired by their experiences queuing in long lines
for portable toilets at music festivals. The prototype (shown
at right) is designed to allow six women at a time to have
privacy from the waist down while they squat—low, high, or
wide—to urinate.
