As they told supporters: "With great regret, we must announce that this year's Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us. In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year." Compost Created from Waste In California, Santa Monica's new City Hall East building features "foam-flush" toilets that use very little water (three teaspoons versus the usual 1.6 gallons) and send waste to a compost room below. Through a vermi-compost system (whereby specially suited worms decompose solids) that takes 18–24 months, workers can harvest nutrient-rich compost to fertilize the on site garden. In addition, because the composting process is aerobic, there is no foul smell. Read the full story here. Safety Program Under Budget Last spring, Oregon OSHA implemented emergency rules to safeguard farm workers in fruit orchards and vineyards. Measures included providing more portable toilets, using more buses to transport workers to the fields, and reconfiguring cabins to maximize social distancing. Despite the need to roughly double the number of portable toilets and hand wash stations, the entire program cost the state just $5.6 million of the $16 million allotted. Read the full story here.
