Portable Sanitation & Septic Industry
2021 Economic Outlook for Portable Sanitation…continued from page 11
But weddings and smaller events will be going on, and they will be picking
up later in the year. The potential for portable sanitation is for increased units,
hand wash stations, and service as compared to the past for the same sized
events. People may also be more willing to pay for upgrades like flushing units
and luxury trailers. Perceptions of these options being more sanitary may give
nervous customers a reason to splurge. You can sell peace of mind.
Final Thoughts
Because a high percentage of the PSAI's members hail from English-speaking
North America and the Caribbean, the economic outlook presented in this
article is heavily weighted toward the perspective of businesses in those regions.
However, we are part of a larger world. The pandemic has affected everyone,
everywhere. Full recovery of all the world's economies is required for there to be
a true "new normal."
According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the recovery's strength is projected to vary significantly across
countries, depending on access to medical interventions, effectiveness of policy support, exposure to cross-
country spillovers, and structural characteristics entering the crisis. While the issues these nations face may not
seem to directly affect your business, it is important to keep in mind that everything from the international supply
chain for building supplies, PPE, and pharmaceuticals, to the ability to travel overseas for leisure depends on a full
recovery for all. Until that is achieved, the portable sanitation industry will be somewhat vulnerable to the effects
of the COVID-19 pandemic. v
